Brief History of the Colloquium/Breve Historia sobre el Coloquio

The Coloquio Internacional del Noreste Mexicano y Texas has been organized since 2003 alternating between Mexico and Texas. "The present-day territory referred to as Northeastern Mexico and South Texas, although delineated by two countries, is an area with a shared history. In spite of some efforts to make this international boundary a cultural barrier, the fact is that this border is the epicenter of a common past that continues to recreate ancient cultural traditions." From the first volume published featuring conference proceedings from the 2003 Coloquio held in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico.
